Social Media Strategist & Creator

CAREER OPPORTUNITY

ORGANIC AND PAID SOCIAL | SHORT-FORM VIDEO | CONTENT CREATION

Full-time | Cary/Raleigh-Durham, N.C. | Primarily remote with regular in-person work

S&A Communications is seeking a hands-on social media strategist and content creator to elevate the social presence of agency clients and an established automotive B2B vertical. The role owns organic and paid social strategy, platform-native content, audience engagement, short-form video capture and editing, and performance reporting across two equally important bodies of work, with focused account management, public relations and writing support for select agency clients.

A social-first role across agency and media brands

S&A Communications, a division of S&A Cherokee, LLC, is a full-service integrated public relations and marketing agency serving clients across a range of industries. Its sister division, Cherokee Media Group, serves the national automotive B2B market through trade publications, digital content, podcasts, webinars and live events. This position will equally support S&A Communications client programs and Cherokee Media Group’s automotive B2B brands.

The person we hire will lead day-to-day organic and paid social work, create and edit social-first video, develop platform-specific content and use performance data to strengthen results. For the automotive B2B vertical, the role will work closely with company leaders and editors to extend the reach and useful life of original journalism. For select agency clients, the role will also provide focused account coordination, public relations and writing support.

What you will own

Organic and paid social strategy

  • Lead organic and paid social strategy for assigned S&A accounts, translating business goals into practical channel plans and content calendars.
  • Own the strategy, voice and quality of organic social programs while coordinating with account colleagues who may assist with content development, scheduling, publishing and engagement.
  • Required: Independently plan, traffic, launch, monitor and optimize paid social campaigns, especially through Meta Ads Manager and LinkedIn Campaign Manager, including objectives, audiences, budgets, pacing, testing and performance recommendations.
  • Develop platform-native content for LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram and other channels selected for each audience rather than posting the same content everywhere.
  • Manage community engagement and social listening; identify opportunities, questions and issues that require a timely response or escalation.
  • Partner with digital colleagues on tracking, landing pages, conversion events and UTM conventions so campaign results connect to meaningful business outcomes.
  • Translate analytics into clear monthly reporting, insights and next-step recommendations for clients and company leaders.

Social content creation and short-form video

  • Develop original social concepts, copy and video scripts for agency clients, including content that is not based on existing source material, while adapting tone, length, structure and creative treatment for each platform and audience.
  • Capture purposeful B-roll, interviews, event footage and still images using a smartphone or lightweight camera kit at client locations, company events, community activations and other assignments.
  • Independently own routine short-form social video from concept and capture through editing, pacing, captioning, branding, platform formatting and final delivery.
  • Create simple platform-ready visuals using approved templates and collaborate with S&A’s creative team when original graphic design is needed.
  • Repurpose strong source material into multiple useful formats while protecting accuracy, context and each brand’s distinct voice.
  • Collaborate with editors, subject-matter experts and account teams to transform industry news, original reporting, interviews and event coverage into timely social content, short-form video and other audience-engagement assets.
  • Maintain organized content libraries, usage rights, release documentation, source files and final assets so work can be found and reused appropriately.

Automotive B2B social growth

  • Work closely with company leaders and editors to review the pipeline of stories, interviews, podcasts, webinars, research and event coverage and determine how each can be extended effectively across social platforms.
  • Work from stories and other source material created by Cherokee Media Group’s editors. This position is not responsible for reporting or writing original publication stories.
  • Transform original journalism into platform-native posts, carousels, quote-driven content, short-form video and other formats that encourage discovery, engagement and traffic without weakening editorial context.
  • Build and maintain consistent social calendars across the automotive B2B brands and channels so strong stories are promoted thoughtfully, repeatedly and in ways suited to each audience rather than posted once and forgotten.
  • Capture and edit timely social video at interviews, conferences, webinars, podcasts and live events, and repurpose existing footage into useful short-form content.
  • Manage publishing, engagement and social listening while using audience and content-performance data to identify successful topics, formats, timing and opportunities for growth.
  • Protect editorial credibility by distinguishing clearly among original journalism, sponsored content, event promotion and other commercial messages.

Selected agency account support

  • Serve as the social media lead and account contact for select agency clients, coordinating priorities, calendars, deliverables, approvals and reporting.
  • Provide focused public relations and writing support based on account needs, including media research, pitches, press releases, articles, blogs, web copy, executive thought leadership and talking points.
  • Participate in client meetings, offer sound recommendations, document decisions and manage assigned deadlines and follow-through.

Planning, quality and collaboration

  • Own multiple active workstreams in a fast-moving environment, balancing planned calendars with breaking news, client needs and event-driven opportunities.
  • Follow approval workflows, brand standards, accessibility practices, platform policies, confidentiality requirements and sound brand-safety judgment.
  • Use AI-enabled tools appropriately for research, ideation, versioning and efficiency while protecting confidential information and applying human judgment, fact-checking and brand voice to every final deliverable.
  • Stay current on changes in platforms, ad products, content formats, audience behavior and measurement practices; turn that knowledge into practical recommendations.
  • Collaborate generously with account, public relations, creative, digital, photography and leadership colleagues, and help strengthen repeatable processes across the full client portfolio.

Required experience and capabilities

  • Four or more years of relevant professional experience in social media, digital content, public relations, marketing communications, journalism or a closely related field. Agency or multi-client experience is strongly valued.
  • Hands-on paid social expertise with direct responsibility for real campaign budgets and measurable results. Experience limited to boosting posts or coordinating with an outside buyer is not sufficient.
  • Demonstrated organic social expertise including strategy, editorial calendars, copy, community management, platform-native content and performance improvement.
  • Practical video and visual-content capability including capturing usable footage and independently editing polished short-form content for social platforms.
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to shift naturally among executive, corporate, editorial and social voices. A portfolio demonstrating strong social, digital and professional writing is required.
  • Editorial content amplification with the judgment to translate reported stories and other source material into engaging social content without losing accuracy, context or credibility.
  • Client-service and account coordination capability including clear communication, expectation setting, meeting participation, project organization and dependable follow-through for select accounts.
  • Working knowledge of public relations including media relations, news judgment and the development of clear, credible media materials.
  • Analytical fluency with native platform insights and reporting tools; ability to explain what the data means and what should happen next.
  • Strong organizational judgment and the ability to move among clients, brands and deadlines without losing quality or detail.
  • Education or equivalent experience in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism or a related discipline.
  • Local availability for regular in-person meetings, client visits, content capture and events in the Triangle, with occasional travel as assignments require.

Preferred qualifications

  • Experience supporting B2B organizations, trade publications, professional services, associations, technology, financial services, automotive or other complex industries.
  • Experience working with editors, newsrooms, trade publications, podcasts, webinars or live-event content.
  • Familiarity with tools such as Sprout Social, Cision, Google Analytics 4, Canva, Adobe Creative Cloud, CapCut or comparable platforms.
  • Experience with email marketing, web content management, search-informed content or social lead-generation programs.
  • Photography, on-camera interviewing, crisis communications or executive-visibility experience.

What success looks like

  • Organic and paid programs are strategically sound, well executed, measured consistently and improved based on evidence.
  • The automotive B2B social platforms show more consistent activity, stronger amplification of original stories and measurable growth in audience and engagement.
  • Agency clients receive timely, platform-native content and clear, practical social media counsel.
  • Strong stories and source assets are repurposed thoughtfully across formats and channels to extend their reach and useful life.
  • Content is consistently well written, visually credible, on brand, accurate and suited to the channel where it appears.
  • Calendars, assets, budgets, approvals and reporting are organized well enough that S&A and its clients can move quickly without unnecessary surprises.
