5 tips for managing multiple social media accounts and platforms

Juggling a ton of different Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts can drive an account manager crazy. I currently manage six Facebook pages, five Instagram accounts, and four Twitter accounts for S&A and our clients. In order to save my time and sanity, I established methods to effectively administer each account.

Here are five tips to help you multi-manage:

Tip #1: Stay organized and establish a workflow

Create a social media calendar for each client. This helps you stay organized and ahead of your work. Here are some social media calendar templates you can download for free.

Tip #2: Use posting tools to save time

A posting and scheduling social media tool will save your life – and a lot of time. I use Hootsuite because I find it easy to post, engage with audiences, and monitor activity for all of my accounts on one platform. Here are some other tools you can try.

Tip #3: Schedule, schedule, schedule

If your social media content calendars are approved and ready to go, use tools like Hootsuite to schedule your posts ahead of time. I block out time to schedule posts for the next two weeks. This process saves you from having to post on each platform for every account, every day.

Tip #4: Review and monitor mentions

Although you have your posts scheduled, continue to monitor each account. Set up each account’s activity stream on one dashboard (e.g., Hootsuite) so you can easily review all activity at once.

Engage with each brand’s audience and respond to comments promptly. Having a short response time makes your customer service look superb. Plus, Facebook lets page visitors know your average response time, so this is important.

Tip #5: Have a photo library

Facebook posts with images see 2.3 times more engagement than those without images. Instead of scrambling for photos at the last minute, have quality photos ready when you build your social media calendars and continue to add to your photo library.

It’s possible to be the social media guru behind the curtain without getting overwhelmed. Remember these tips, uses your tools and resources, and you can do it all.
