Chuck Norman named chair of Cary Chamber board

Chuck Norman, APR, owner/principal of S&A Communications, has been named chair of the Cary Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors. His one-year term as chair commences on Sept. 1, but Norman will be officially installed at the Chamber’s Annual Banquet on Sept. 23 at Prestonwood Country Club.

Norman has a long affiliation with the Cary Chamber, having previously worked for the organization from 1996 to 2002 as vice president of communications and vice president of governmental relations. He has also served as the Chamber’s vice chair of economic development from 2013 to 2014.

Since 2003, he has worked at S&A Communications (previously Smith & Associates) and is now a co-owner of the full-service communications agency based in Cary.

Norman’s other community and business involvement includes serving on the advisory boards of Wells Fargo, Band Together NC, and Wake Technical Community College, and the Board of Directors of the SearStone continuing care retirement community. He has also served as chair of the Southeast District and North Carolina Chapter of Public Relations Society of America, the Greater Raleigh Chamber of Commerce Business Expo and Emerging Leaders program, and as treasurer and chairman of the board of the Holly Springs Chamber of Commerce.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications/public relations from North Carolina State University. In 2009, Norman completed the rigorous requirements to earn Accredited in Public Relations status.

“Chuck has contributed greatly to the Cary Chamber in numerous ways over the years,” said Cary Chamber President Howard Johnson. “I’m sure he will do a tremendous job as board chair.”
